How to choose a kurta size online in Pakistan
Research-based guide. Sources checked on 26 October 2026. We have not carried out hands-on testing for this article.
To choose a kurta online, compare the product’s own measurements with a similar garment that fits you. Do not assume that the same S, M, or L means the same finished size across brands, cuts, and collections. First establish what the size chart actually measures.
Start with the chart, not the letter
Check whether the numbers refer to body measurements or the garment itself. Then check the unit: inches and centimetres are not interchangeable. A flat chest width is also different from a chest circumference. If the listing does not explain the measurement, ask the seller before using it.
For illustration only, a garment measured 20 inches across the chest when laid flat has roughly 40 inches around that section. This is arithmetic, not a recommendation that a person with a 40-inch chest should buy it. Fit also depends on the garment’s cut, construction, and intended ease.
Make a comparison you can repeat
- Lay a similar, comfortable kurta flat without stretching it.
- Record chest width, shoulder width, sleeve length, and overall length using the seller’s illustrated measuring points.
- Compare those values with the exact item’s chart. Do not reuse an unrelated brand’s chart.
- Check the fabric description and the retailer’s care information; do not invent an allowance for shrinkage.
- Keep the item code, chosen size, and chart with your order confirmation.
What to do when you are between sizes
Identify which measurement is causing the uncertainty. A longer sleeve is a different problem from a tight chest or a shoulder seam in the wrong place. Ask about that specific difference rather than requesting a general “true to size” assurance. If alteration is part of your plan, consider its cost and practicality before ordering.
An unstitched suit is a different purchase. Its fabric length does not tell you the finished measurements of a stitched kurta. Check that the product you are comparing is actually ready to wear.
Read the exchange rules before paying
At our check, J.’s Pakistan return and exchange page listed a three-day claim window for specified problems, with conditions about use, packaging and discounted products. A retailer’s current policy may distinguish receiving the wrong size from simply preferring a different fit. Read the live policy for your order; do not assume every purchase has an unconditional exchange.
Our practical recommendation is to buy only after the measurement basis and the purchase conditions are clear. If the chart remains ambiguous, wait for a written clarification or choose another listing. Pair this checklist with our winter shawl buying guide when planning a winter outfit.
